here is my ipod mini install in a '01 jetta 1.8t. the ipod mini is housed in a proclip (non-swivel) holder on a proclip mount. i hardwired the belkin car kit to use my eclipse head-unit as a power source. the line out of the belkin is then feed in through a ground loop isolator and then into the AUX input of the eclipse. i had to remove the dash pocket to store the belkin adapter and ground loop isolator. an OEM DIN panel hides these components.

thanks. i didn't touch the cigarette lighter. it's hidden under the sliding panel in front of the shifter.

Your install looks great, I have a '03 Jetta as well and I was wondering how you are powering your Belkin Car Adapter in the back of the stereo. What parts are you using? What cables did you have to buy and where did you hook them up to?
Also, What is the model of that holder your using? I still havn't found a good way to hold my mini other than the belt clip.

nice instal! i did a very similar instal on my 2002 Jetta GLX daily driver.. the only thing i would have done differently would be to fine a VW single din storage pocket (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7908043237&category=40017&sspagename=WDVW) to put above your head unit - its just a nice area to store stuff. check out my instal (in my signature) to see what im talking about. other than that, awesome job... btw... what shift knob is that?!

neoneuromancer..
all you need to do is pull the ashtry out by unscrewing one T10 (torx) screw located unter the red ashtray. this will give you access to the cigarette wire harness. from there, you can splice in an extra cig plug, and plug the belkin in there. check out my instal link (in my signature) for more instructions

thanks. the holder is the proclip ipod mini holder. i got it from www.proclipusa.com. i'm powering the belkin using the headunit. the headunit has two "accessory" wires (power and ground) that can be used for powering accessories. i just tapped into those wires and soldered directly to the belkin cigarette plug.

your install is very clean. i like how the headunit matches the lighting perfectly.
my jetta came with the DIN pocket because it came with just a tape player that was single DIN. the reason i took out the DIN pocket for the panel is because i couldn't fit the adapter and all the wires comfortably behind it.
the shift knob is a "bora sport edition" shift knob. "bora" is what the jetta is called everywhere else in the world (except the U.S.). there was a guy living in Germany who was selling the shift knobs a while back on www.vwvortex.com. he was buying them at the VW dealerships in Germany and then shipping them to people in the U.S.
