hi all

I have been playing mu 3rd Gen Ipod in my Honda using the Sik Imp, using line out, and a P.I.E. head unit adaptor.

A few times last night, after letting music play for about 15-20 mins, I noticed that some of the buttons were slow to respond or not responsive at all. Pressing MENU would not navigate be backward... or the PLAY button wouldn't pause.

Anyone else run into this? Perhaps a restart of Ipod?

I haven't run into the problem running the Ipod when not connected to the car.

Also, I notice when using line out on the Imp, I have to turn up the volume pretty loud on my head unit. Granted, classical music seems to play softer anyway.

I have had your same unresponsive buttons problem. Sometimes the play or menu button won't work, but all it takes is to hit the center button and then it works. Or clicking the hold button on and off. But it's completely random, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I don't knwo what the deal is. I always assumed its oil or grease on my fingertips that makes a barrier between my finger and the touch sensitive space, but I too haven't had the problem outside the car.

About the imp, i haven't had that problem, and I also use a pie device, the x3. My guess its the particular music file. Try a range of different types and time that you ripped them.

thanks for the reply,

for the Occasional unresponsive buttons when using in the car, it sounds like our set-up in the car is similar:

Sik Imp
PIE unit

Honda by chance? (doubt it matters)

Are you running the Imp into the cigarette lighter, charging Ipod as you play at the same time? I am.

Seems like it just might be a quirk of the setup. I will try toggling the hold switch.

As far as the volume issue, I think it is with the files -- most are soundtrack/classical stuff, which always seems to be recorded softer. Normal pop/rock stuff is normal volume.

thanks

Try raising/lowering the volume slightly, then go to the menu, pause or other buttons.

Sometimes mine does not respond (only on one of my pods) and touching the "ring" first helps. The other pod has the more blueish screen and the buttons work easier and every time!

Wonder if its related to a certain run of iPods? Certain screen color? FWIW, both are 3G/20gb purchased 1/2004.
