I got an ipod recently and on my computer i have renamed all my filenames for my tracks ARTIST - SONG TITLE but i tried to upload through itunes and it changed all the tracks to their ID tags so i got a program which removed all the id tags so i though the ipo would be froced to use my filename titles. Unfortunatley the ipod only recognises my filename as the song name and not the artist name aswell which is annoying becasue i have to browse through all my tracks to find and artist instead of searching through the artists.
Can anyone suggest how i can fix this without manual editing every single mp3s tag. Thansk In Advance
I'm not really clear on what you're trying to accomplish...
If all you're doing is wanting iTunes to not mess with your files, then go to Edit->Preferences select the Advanced tab, and uncheck "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized"
I believe this was a selectable option when installing iTunes, but I know it wasn't real clear what it meant.

I am trying to think of how i can word this so you understand what i mean and i can't very well but i'll try again
My mp3s on my hard drive are named: ARTIST - SONG TITLE e.g. Eminem - Lose Yourself. I have removed all ID tags from my mp3s also.
When i import them into itunes instead of itunes recognising the bit before the - as the artist title and the bit after as the song title it just adds the whole thing as the song name and nothing for the artist name.
How can i get itunes to seperate the title as Artist - Song title without editing tags?
Hope this is better explained
