I've been hunting for an all-in-one charger/mount/fm transmitter for my ipod. I really liked the look of the Seidio iMount, but was afraid that I'd have to remove my iSkin everytime I wanted to plug into the iMount. I emailed service@seidio about it & I just received this email back from Seidio:

Hi,

Our current version will not, but our next version it will (available three
weeks from now)

Subject: iMount for iPod

Will my ipod fit in the iMount without removing my iSkin evo? I have a 3g
15GB ipod and a 3g 40GB ipod.

Just thought some of you might want to wait impatiently with me for the next few weeks.

Thanks. I wasn't even aware of this car mount. Seems like an optimal solution and for a really reasonable price, it seems. I have been looking for the best car solution for me and this seems like it. I'll sure be waiting for this one! Now, all I would need except this is an AUX adapter.

I've read in another thread that this is the same as the Transpod. I'm really wanting to try the add on fm transmitter as it appears to have a strong enough signal to cover a larger range than most.

The transpod has awful direct line out. Its a good FM transmitter though. Get it if you want to use it as an FM Transmitter, but don't get it if you want to use the jack on the side for a direct connection. It has pathetic volume and sound quality.

Hmm...just bought the current version of the Seidio and am pretty pleased with it. I only wish it wouldn't stay on when the car is turned off...

What are the improvements between the current product and the new version?

On some cars, the power to the cig. lighter socket remains on when the car is turned off. On those vehicles there is NO WAY for the device to know if the car is on or off. Now if your vehicle cuts power to the socket but the Seido doesn't pause the iPod that's a different story.

OK so let's say that my car is of the type that the lighter remains on with the car off. Would the draw of the Seidio have an adverse affect on the car battery any more than if nothing were plugged into it? Since the socket is always on, would having something plugged in matter to the car battery?

Just a hypothetical question...I don't want to find my car battery dead because the Seidio was left in (without the iPod in it)

While I have no idea what the current draw of the Seido is without an iPod inserted, I expect it would be zero -- at most a miniscule amount. I cannot imaging how leaving it in would cause any problems -- your card radio's clock would probably use more current and you know that's no problem. (Car batteries are on the order of 50-80 amp-hours at 12V -- that's a LOT of stored energy)

I leave my Belkin ipod autoadapter plugged in all the time and my car doesn't switch off the outlet.

Has anyone heard if the new iMount that fits the new iSkin eVo is out yet? According to a previous post, it should be out by now, but I can't find it on their website. Any additional information would be highly appreciated.
THanks,
Aariah.

As of last Friday, they aren't in yet. They are due in the next few weeks, but that is what I was told last time. I'll be sure to update the forum as soon as they become available.
