I have an iTrip, which I am quite happy with. However I have noticed some peculiar behaviour when trying to find an appropriate place to mount it in my Honda Accord.
When mounted using a car phone mount the iTrip and iPod ends up angled towards, or away from the driver. This puts it at an angle to my Bose head unit which is mounted in the dashboard. When I mount the iTip in this way I end up with a degree of interference, possibly from the engine.
However when I mount the iPod underneath the car radio, flat on the dash and not at an angle, ie in the same plane as the head unit, the interference is no longer there and I get a crystal clear signal. The distance from the iTrip to the head unit is not appreciably different.
This has meant that I have had to improvise a mount, but that is a different story.
My confusion is that I can't understand why the angle that the iTrip is to the head unit should make a difference to the reception. If it was receiving in AM frequency I could understand, but FM?
I can only think that it has something to do with the manner in which the head unit receives the iTrip signal, as the signal is not being received via the car ariel which is mounted at the rear of the car on the roof.
Any thoughts?
