I am trying to decide on my final call for a head unit purchase this morning (need to get it in time for my girlfriends bday).

Does anyone know of the Alpine CDA-9826 will be able to be controlled by the AI-Net ipod controller that is coming out this fall?

I know supposively it will work or all 2004 models or "some" or "most" of them.

If it is a yes then I am going to pick it up, if it is a no, then I am open to any brands that will give me an aux in or option for one(including Alpine and others).

I am looking in the $200 or less range, so...

Even if you cannot control the iPod through the HU controls you can always connect the iPod using the KCA-121B (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-tMzfdZnyyHs/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=2&g=57900&I=500KCA121B&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search=kca) adapter or the KCA-801B (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-tMzfdZnyyHs/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=2&g=57900&I=500KCA801B&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search=kca) adapter or the KCA-410C (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-tMzfdZnyyHs/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=2&g=57900&I=500KCA410C&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search=kca) adapter. The latter two allow you to have a CD changer and the iPod connected.

Yeah, the thing is if i can not control the ipod with the head unit then i will chose a different brand/model. to me the only big draw is if it could control the ipod with the HU.

If I were a betting man, which I'm not - betting, that is - I would say that you will be able to control the iPod with this unit, but, of course, you won't be able to as much information on the display of HU as you would with the higher end units.

The one thing I would like to see is the price for the iPod interface unit, knowing Alpine it's going to be expensive.

i'm not too familure with the alpine ai-net setup, but i can recoment a good cheep headunit.

i just installed the Blaupunkt Sacramento CD33 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vJPd6ZEFi03/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=178850&I=023SACRAME&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search=cd+33) in my Jetta (check out the link in my signature) and it works awesome. this unit has alot of features for the price.

just so you know, as with all blaupunkt units, you will need to buy two adapters to hook up an aux source. you will need the Blaupunkt AUXIN1R (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vJPd6ZEFi03/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=023AUXIN1R&search=023AUXIN1R) and the Blaupunkt BPVA08 (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vJPd6ZEFi03/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?wm=fa&I=023BPVA08).

i paid around $120 for everything. sweet deal. retail price is around $150 but crutchfield has them for $99. plus you get everything you need included for free - wiring harnesses, radio removal tools, etc.

anyways, please drop me a note if you have any questions about this unit.

Alpine's website lists the CDA-9826 as a 2004 model if you navigate to the download user manuals section. I had also heard the 2004 ainet head units will work with the ipod interface when it is finally released. I called alpine to verify the CDA-9831 would work. Their phone number is 800.421.2284

I just ordered the Blaupunkt Monte Carlo, along with wireharness, mounting kit and a the AUX cable (single one for the monte carlos) from cardomain.com today, total came to $160. The deck has the cabability to read id3 tags, which i doubt it will read off the AUX in, but if it does...thats one hell of a deal. Ill try and show my install pics next week in my celica.

It won't. Sorry. AUX inputs are audio only.

Yeah i kind of knew it wouldnt, it would have just been an added bonus ya know. The cool thing is that I have just about every mp3 on cd from the pre-ipod days, so if i ever do decide to go oldskool and pop in a cd, ill know whats being selected.

If your looking for decks, Id highly suggest cardomain.com, they have the same offer as crutchfield, but they have 10% all decks, not to mention they will beat any price out there (or just about any)
