What are the best availble speakers for the iPod? I have nothing to hook it up to, and I kinda feel like Ive wasted my money on this. Help!

I bought the Altec Lansing inMotion (http://www.digitalriver.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry16?V1=583966&PN=1&SP=10023&xid=48205&V5=31031487&S1=&S2=&S3=&S4=&S5=&V2=&V3=&V4=&DSP=0&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=0) portable speakers a couple weeks ago and am quite pleasesd with them (although I am no audiophile). They're surprisingly loud for their size, and offer some extra but well-worth-the-money features such as being able to run on 4 AA batteries, capability to charge your (3G) iPod if the speakers are plugged in, and be used as a dock if you connect them to your computer (they have a dock connector on the back). Also, the include a cable to let you connect anything with a headphone jack to the inMotions via the AUX In port. Overall, I'm very pleased with them, and I think they're worth the rather steep $149.99 price (they even come with a fleece-lined carrying pouch!). Hopefully this helps you out a little on your search. Also, if you don't mind, let us know what speakers you end up purchasing and how you like them.
Edit: I forgot to add that they're the only speakers designed just for the iPod, and it shows, as they integrate really well!

Well if you dont have alot of money for altec speakers which are 120-150 dolllars, you would use a pair of just standard headphones. You could probably get both the altec speakers or headphones on ebay for a great price!

I also use the Altec Lansing and I love them. I got them mainly for at home use and they are worth the money I paid ($149.99) plus they look good with the iPod.

THere's several other models available. I happen to love Bird's Ezonic, but they're $200. Check out Dr. Bott for them. Just search Google. Best of luck.

I have some Creative Travelsound speakers, they sound great on the iPod. They fill a hotel room very well, and give a fairly deep sound.
Well worth the money.
If you want sound that will blow you away, get an amp to plug the iPod into and get these (http://coincidentspeaker.com/tri_sig.htm) speakers. You can't beat the amount of value for the price.
($1300 is very little anyways when you're in audio heaven :))

If you buy them, don't forget you'll need an amp :)

Darn! I could have bought the Altec speakers for only $101 from Buy.com. I've always had good luck with that company and the shipping is free. No sales tax either.
