A couple days ago i finished my install and it worked out well. If i can get my camera working, i will try to post some pictures later. If you have questions, just ask them and i will try to help.
Ok the camera worked. Yes the pictures aren't the greatest, but you get the idea.

Well there is a monster cable rca to mini plug on the dock and that goes to a Aux adapter cable that connects to my JVC headunit through the cd changer port. So i just put it on the EXT source and it plays.
I tried to look at your site, i got on a little bit ago but now it says its locked and now it is fine. Nice install, i like the thought of using the remote.

is that an iskin ? If so what kind of dock do you have that fits the ipod with iskin inside it? Or did you do some custom work to the dock?

Looks like the stock Apple iPod dock, with the white plastic cover removed (they "snap" off).

Yes it is a iskin (lava) and the stock dock with the cover off. It fits perfect that way and i did not modify it at all.

the copper is under the weight and i still keep the weight on. I am thinking abount painting what i have there black, so the dock blends in better. I am worried about the paint rubbing off on the skin.

I would just take it out of my car and take pics, but it is hotglued in. So i used a picture from my car install.

On mine, when i take off the white cover that i had to put on when i got the dock, there is a silver weight (outlined in yellow) that is held on by 3 screws (circled in blue).
By the plug that goes into the ipod there is a padding of some sort (circled in green).
The space behind the weight in the right corner is where the plugs and line out is (circled in red).
Hopes it helps, not the greatest drawing.

When did you buy this dock?
Your dock is definitely different from the one that I have, and I assume many other people have.
Here's your dock

Whereas this is a picture of the other type, taken from ipoding.com

And its kinda weird that you had to put the white cover onto your dock. Never heard of that before. Does your white cover look like this?

This is pretty cool, cause the dock that vulcanwolf has looks a hell of a lot better without the top. And would be aesthetically pleasing to use without the cover. Also I'm interested in this "padding" around the dock connector. Seems Apple planned to have people plug them in without the plastic cover to stop the ipod on the connector...

i got the dock off the apple store not to long ago and it comes with the dock base and 2 covers. One for the 10/15/20GB and one for the 30/40GB (they both look the same, just the 30/40 has just a little bigger space for the ipod). And yes the cover does look like that pic^.
I will go out and try to take a closer picture for you guys.
Here is a closer pic:

I'm jealous too... :) I want a dock that looks as good as yours when it's naked :D
I've got plastic over the PCB in mine at the moment. I might look into unscrewing the thick metal bit and "rewiring" the copper bit underneath.
Vulcanwolf, on the back bit of your dock, does the gray plastic come down and cover around the dock and lineout connector? Or does it have a little gap between them? if you understand what I mean...
This is a pretty cool discovery, cause now those with cases at least have a half decent looking dock, without getting a custom made cover.
Vulcanwolf

there is a gap. The plastic is just a thin layer over those ports.

So what did you guys with the dock with the copper and exposed PCB do about it? I need to take the cover off of mine to get my iPod with an iSkin on it to fit in the dock. -Thanks
Jesper

You can gently lift up the copper (use a thin flat object so you don't just lift a little bit at a time) and then fold it to fit under the metal weight. And for the exposed PCB I just made a cover out of plastic.
Doesn't look to bad but still not as slick as Vulcanwolf's one.

The copper running over the top, not the copper cable that is underneath the weight, the stuff on top does it do anything, like could I take it out?
Jesper

I think it's just used for grounding and possibly shielding. Not to sure though, so I erred (sp?) on the side of caution and just tucked it underneath.

O well I riped all of mine out, except for teh copper strip on the top center I tucked it under, and I Left the copper ribon cable that makes the conenction. It seems to work perfectly fine (so far lol) I figured it was sheilding, then I decided that the Apple store version didnt have it (that I could see) , and it wasnt conecting anything so I removed it. I did save it just in case tho... -Jared
