So I was reading Slashdot, and came across news of the Airport Express and AirTunes (http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/). It sounds cool, and apparently there's going to be a new version of iTunes also (4.6) for use with it.

This sounds MAD cool. I wish I had one! Basically you hook it up to your stereo, and can wirelessly stream music from your computer, through iTunes, to your stereo over a WiFi network that it sets up.

A possibility - the 4g iPod with WiFi to connect to your friends' AirTunes?

Thoughts?

Its a cool idea. I think the biggest obstacle would be increased battery drain to keep the streaming connection.

I'm also not to keen on the $130 price tag! My d-link wireless router doesn't have AirTunes, but it cost only $40 after rebate.

what i would want is apple to incorporate bluetooth into the ipod (4G) as well as a 2nd generation of the airport express. you don't need the distance of wifi and sure as heck don't need the power usage of it too.

This seems a bit silly.

definition of airtunes: a way to stream music from your computer onto your stereo

what will happen if you put wifi into ipods: people will stream music from their computers onto their stereo.

Apple will get a lot of money from people just wanting itunes on the stereo, if the ipod has wifi, that product will be effectively redudant. Why would they bother making it if they were going to make it useless a couple of months later?

thats just imho anyway
