Wow, that's helpful!
Try the following, all of which should be available fairly cheaply, and all of which are good, honest, highly accessible classic rock of various types. Some may not be fashionable (some are achingly hip) but all are guaranteed to get you rockin':
'Get Born' by Jet
'Permission to Land' by the Darkness
'Second Coming' by the Stone Roses
'BRMC' and 'Take Them On, On Your Own' by the Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club
'Strange Generation' by the Dirty Americans
'Boomslang' by Johnny Marr and the Healers
'Who's Next' by the Who
'Let it Rock - the best of' by the Georgia Satellites
'Definitely Maybe' by Oasis
'Give Out But Don't Give Up' by Primal Scream
'The Music' by the Music
'Steve Miller Band Live' by Steve Miller
'Voodoo Child' by Jimi Hendrix
'Kick Up the Fire and Let the Flames Break Loose' by the Cooper Temple Clause
'BBC Sessions' Rory Gallagher

Atleast Jackonicko put it nicely, but guys...not everybody likes this stuff. Sure there musical opinion might be "crap" but hey..it's what they like. I don't like Linkin Park but Trapt is decent stuff. If you want some GOOD Modern Rock (Even stuff some of you LP haters would have to admit is good music and there talented..then look no farther than Skillet's CD "Collide" It just re-released to the mainstream market now that they are on Lava and comes with a new song and footage. They have changed there sound quite a bit since the beginning (around 9 years ago...these guys have been around for awhile) went from Grunge...changed to industrial and now they are modern rockish.
To hear there stuff go to: http://panheads.org/music/ listen to the "Savior", "Open Wounds", "My Obsession" and "Collide"...this CD is pretty varied and has 2 slower, deeper songs "A Little More" and "Collide". Check out some of there older stuff too if you like it, musically it gets a bit different every CD but 'Alien Youth'(Industrial rock) and the self titled cd (grundge) are some of my favorites.
I'd also recommend Jet..I'm not sure exactly what to call them but to Jack' I didn't know they were classic rock?
Another band that isn't modern but you would like are Blindside..
You will find clips at: http://www.blindsideonline.com/media/ they used to be really hardcore now they are like...melodic hardcore?
Oh well...hope that actually helps.

Umm......don't bother with The Darkness, I own 'Permission To Land' and it seriously is not worth buying but hey that's my opinion. Definately check out 'The Music' that is one of the best albums/Band I have heard in a long time and so is 'Get Born' by Jet. Any Hendrix is good and certainly worth a listen.

I did. It sucks. YMMV.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Vines, Jet. Hell, define modern rock at this point, anything not Britney-like? Audioslave, Queens of the Stone Age, Wilco, the White Stripes. I'll freely admit, I've only heard of 1 band on the parents list, & I don't like them.
Do I have to preface every comment I make with "this is my opinion"?? Is everyone that sensitive on this board? The original poster asked for "MODERN ROCK" recommendations and proceeded to list a bunch of "numetal" stuff. IN MY OPINION, numetal sucks. But more importantly, it's not MODERN ROCK.

I agree with Hellaphunk's suggestions but "Permission to Land" - The Darkness- is worth buying. It is pure modern rock music.
