Hia there. Firstly, I searched around a bit, and couldn't find a better place to put this post, but if there is please move it. Thanks.
Right. I have just recently got my new ipod mini silver sent over to the UK from my auntie, and was firstly shocked by the size... naturally... :D Then, obviously, I charged it via firewire, becuase I dont have an adapter for the american plug yet, and it charged fine. Here is where I hit some problems. I am using Windows 98SE and didn't have firewire. i have bought a firewire card and have downloaded the trial version of Anapod explorer, which says it can be used with the iPod mini. I fired it up, and opened anapod explorer, this is after the ipod had charged, and looked at how to put some songs on. I use a P2P programme called Ares, and this puts all its music into a shared folder on the Hard Drive of my PC, like Kazaa I imagine. I was soon dragging and dropping my music files from Ares onto my ipod with no problem. Then I put a cd in. I hit major problems. I put the cd into the cd drive, and then closed it, and this very annoyng programme, called NeroMediaPlayer opened, as it always does, when I put a cd in. I quit it as usual, as it is a glitchy, annoying programme. I then opened the cd so I could see all the tracks in anapod explorer, like I could my Ares tracks, and immeadiatly noticed that in the "type" column, the music type was called "NeroMediaPlayer
Files". This was a R.E.M cd. This didn't put me off at first, so I dragged it and tryed to drop it into the CD tracks folder on Anapod Explorer, like I did with my Ares files. It appeared to be transferring for a second, then A message appeared...
"Anapod explorer only supports music in the MP3 and WMA formats"
So I couldn't put my music on. I got rid of NeroMediaPlayer there and then, as I was very annoyed with it, as I saw it as the cause of this. I then went back into Anapod explorer and checked the "type" box again. Now the cd tracks showed up as "CDA files"
This is where I at now.

I think I have included everything, If you need any more info just ask me and I will tell you. Please try and help me, I really want my iPod working, especially as I have been waiting since March for it!

Sorry for the long post, and thankyou in advance,

Jack.

Why aren't you using iTunes?

It's available for both Mac and Windows -> http://www.apple.com/itunes
