Hey:

First off, a huge thanks to all who took the time to so carefully answer my previous questions.

So, after much research of the mp3 player options and much time on this forum and others, I decided to bite the bullet and start my ipod addiction.

Went into Best Buy and picked up the 15 GB ipod and an apple Dock connector for the USB 2.0 (they even matched the 19.99 Circuit City price). Had to head back to work, though, so made a quick post on my previous thread to say thanks all.

I carefully opened the packaging (darn cool if you ask me!), took out the new ipod and took a quick look at the manual that came with it and charged the ipod while I finished up my afternoon so it would be ready when I finally got home.

In between working, I read the whole manual. Did not find any instructions on the 'fomatting of the ipod to windows'--oh, crap!! So went to the apple support site and found some instructions. Good, does not seem too bad!

Finally got home and my wife had to check out the new purchase (much impressed but she still wants the mini). As per the manual, inserted the cdrom, took a deep breath and carefully followed the steps. Hooked up the ipod with the usb 2.0, no problems, did the formatting...NO PROBLEMS!!!

Then I got to the install itunes 4.0. "--oh, crap, I already have 4.1 from the apple store--what do I do", so the super newb decided to stop the install.....then I restarted the computer after setting the ipod to manual update.

The computer starts back up and itunes is still there...my songs are there. Cool. Now lets transfer a playlist...Cool!!! It worked!!!

Made dinner listening to my new ipod with a big grin on my face.

Thanks again for all your help. Probably have more questions later.
