In a couple of weeks I'm going to take a major road trip with my kids from Colorado to Saskatchewan, and I'd love to hear your suggestions for my Road Trip Playlist. (One of the kids is only seven, so nothing explicit, please! ) E, I know playlists are one of your specialties, so I'm counting on you.

A couple of bands I like to listen to on a long trip are Dave Matthews Band, The Tea Party, and my favorite, Our Lady Peace. Each of them have some mellow songs and some upbeat songs. Just get all of their music and I am sure you will enjoy.:D

:) Thanks, Timmy, but I was looking for something a bit more specific...

Like Springsteen's "Born to Run" or The Beatles "Two of Us".

'Hey Dude' and 'Hush' by Kula Shaker, 'Driving South', 'Love Spreads' and 'Breaking Into Heaven' by the Stone Roses.

Some of my roadtrip faves...

JONI MITCHELL:
from "Court and Spark"- Peoples' Parties/Same Situation

from "Blue"- All I Want; River; Case of You

LYLE LOVETT:
from "Road to Ensenada"- Her First Mistake

from "Joshua Judges Ruth"- North Dakota

SHAWN COLVIN:
from "Steady On"- Stranded <----- not what you think re: roadtripping! :-)

from "A Few Small Repairs"- If I Were Brave; Wichita Skyline

PETER GABRIEL:
Solsbury Hill
Mercy Street <------ good for night driving

Don't know if these are the kinds of songs you're looking for, but for me, they fit in nicely when I'm traveling through places I haven't been.

Ah, but with the iTunes Music Store, I can sample so many things and then buy them as singles, not only providing Road Trip Tunes, but also widening my personal musical horizons. :)

Thanks, -e! Those are great suggestions. So are yours, Daverino! :)

Also, "You Don't Love Me" by the Allman Brother Band (Disc 1 of The Fillmore Concerts)-- has a great rambling groove.

Try "Mrs. Potter's Lullabye" also by Counting Crows... it's a "feelgood" song that'd work great on the road!

So would "Einstein on the Beach" also by yonder Crows.
