I'm not sure if this will belong in the Windows forum, but my iPod is formatted for Windows. I'm just wondering where I'd look to see what generation my iPod is. Under the 'About' section, it says Version 2.1 but I don't know if this means anything?

I'm looking on Ebay for an iTrip, but it always says stuff in the description like "For G3 iPods!" and I have no clue what this means! Are they talking about 3rd generation models there?

If your iPod has a touchwheel with four touch-buttons ABOVE it in a row, then it is 3G.

Else, look for the buttons AROUND the touchwheel, clicky type ones.
Then it's 2G.

If the Wheel is a mechanical Scroll wheel, then it's 1G.

There are a lot of threads on this, see the sticky threads first, please.
