Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I've started to notice my iPod doing this lately. Sometimes, always with about ten or so seconds left in the song, it will just skip ahead to the next song. Very frustrating. For one, I'm missing the whole song, and it also screws up my playcounts, since it won't count as a full play.

And no, I didn't accidentally hit the Next button or anything. It is currently sitting on my dresser hooked up to my stereo and it just did it.

I can't be totally sure, but it's possible that this only has started to happen after the new iPod update when the new iTunes was released.

Ok it's just done this 3 times on one album. This is rediculous.

Are you listening to MP3's or AAC's? I've seen a lot of posts on this issue when people are listening to MP3's...doesn't seem to happen with AAC files.

I had this happen not too long ago. I did a soft reset, and it stopped acting weird. Actually, it started after my wife went for a run with the iPod - it starts initially with just skipping a bit, then whole songs, then just rifling through the playlists without actually playing anything.

Well it's good to know this isn't some specific problem only with my iPod.

I did the Play+Menu reset, and it seemed to sort everything out. I bet it will still do it from time to time, though it's strange how it was happening on nearly every song yesterday. I really plan to keep this iPod as long as possible (hopefully a new iPod update won't be too tempting), so any problems like this send me into a panic at first (though I do have the great Best Buy TAP which I got a brand new 30 GB from when my 20 GB G2 was acting up).
