Poking around the web on something totally unrelated I came up with a search return for the Pelikan 1010 micro case (http://www.allmed.net/catalog/index.php/591).

Indestructible, waterproof, No good way to put in your earphones, but if you are the extreme sport kind and need a way to protect it between listenings... this might be it.

There?s now a Pelican Micro? Case to fit electronics, cell phones, Palm? pilots, pagers, gadgets plus personal items. Micro Cases have an automatic pressure purge valve, are watertight, airtight, crushproof and are built Pelican tough to protect your valuable equipment. All Micro Cases come standard with an impact absorbing elastomeric liner that?s color coordinated with the latch.
Outside: 5 7/16? x 4 1/16? x 2 1/8?
Inside: 4 7/16? x 2 15/16? x 1 11/16? (http://www.pelican.com/cases/4bo_1010.html)

a regular ipod measures according to apple's site: 4.1" x 2.4" x 0.62" - BTW... just a hair longer, but you could wittle the liner down a bit.

you also i think can buy extra foam to fill in the space as well if you wanted (@ pelican.com)

if you wanted headphones, you could get the 1020 (http://www.pelican.com/cases/4bo_1020.html) which measures inside: 5 3/8? x 3 5/8? x 1 11/16?
