Hello everyone. I recently contacted Otterbox about their fabulous new oPod. If you are not aware, the oPod is a water-resistant iPod case. It even allows for button use through the case! I have tested the Lilipod (the oPod's closest competition) and was not thrilled at all. The oPod offers so much more than the Lilipod. The oPod allows the user to use their iPod through the case. With the Lilipod, it is necessary to remove the case in order to use the buttons. When your iPod is in the oPod, all buttons and switches are accessible. With waterproof headphones, the oPod can withstand running in the rain, sand at the beach, a drop, and more! The oPod can even be used with an armband! The oPod has a great color lineup. Unlike the color that Lilipod offers, plain white, oPod goes the extra yard and has a fabulous color lineup. The oPod is available in 5 spectacular colors: Blue, Green, Yellow, White, and Pink!

I contacted OtterBox?s customer service and was met with a prompt reply from Brian Thomas their director of sales and marketing. I called also, and was given prompt and fabulous instructions from a nice staff. Brian was in constant correspondence with me. I am amazed at the amazing customer service that OtterBox provides.

I have other OtterBox products, and they are simply fantastic. I already put my preorder in for the oPod. It comes in stock on June 15. I can?t wait for mine! To check out the OtterBox and get yours, visit http://otterbox.com/product.cfm?product=168&code=NA. Good Luck, and Happy iPodding!

it's not an ad. i spoke with them, because i'm creating an iPod website myself. sorry. i was just excited, so i posted about it. but admit it, the oPod does look pretty cool.

see cheesyp18? it's an awesome case. it's water-resistant, and you can use the buttons through it, unlike the lilipod. have you gone to the site to check it out? at least do that so you understand. they make some cool products for pdas also.

cases = too much money, go buy a tin can and make a case

MusicManiac
05-18-2004, 11:24 PM
that's if you want to go cheap. but some people need the water protection.

CheesyP18
05-18-2004, 11:24 PM
oh yeah, tin cans are water proof too unless you wanna submerge it under water

MusicManiac
05-18-2004, 11:28 PM
yes, but again, you can't use the iPod through tin cans. nor can you be sure that the tin can will be the perfect size. you have said it's hard to find one that's the right size. also, you can also use the oPod and other cases on an armband. that's good for exercising. if i was at the gym, and my iPod dropped, i'd feel much safer knowing that it was in an oPod or some other hard MANUFACTURER case.

foam works just as good...I've had my share of manufactured cases....most of them suck ###, I trust my own little product more than anyone else's

Actually, I don't believe it is water-proof. It's only water-resistant...big difference.

Quote from the company:
OtterBox also noted that the case is "waterproof from the standpoint of rain, shower, etc, but we don?t recommend swimming or diving with it."

I'm currently deployed to Iraq and I have my IPOD with me. When I'm back at camp I enjoy sitting around or chilling out and listening to my IPOD. I'd like to be able to take it with me on the go wherever I go. IF/Whenever ipodlounge does review this or I get some good reviews from people on here I may decide to get one. I'd like to keep my 3G 20gig in decent shape considering it was a pretty penny as I'm sure you're all well aware.

Thank you so much for serving our country. I am getting them to review for a site I have. I'll see if I can get one for you. Thank you once again! Be safe.

Finig, I forgot to tell you, it protects from sand and dust. I will most likely have the first review when my site is up. I'll post more as the release date nears. Thanks!

OK, I just received my Otterbox opod and . . . IT'S F _ _ _IN' AMAZING!! It fits my 30 gig like a hardshell glove. Not even close to a jiggle when shaken. I held it under the faucet for a while (with the earbuds plugged in thru the removable/replacable port)...not a molecule of H2O. My one concern is that the cover is a seperate piece: easily replacable, but possible to misplace. This thing exceeded my expectations. Don't knock it 'til you try it.

RField, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have a media unit coming soon for my new website, and I can't wait to write a review and use it. I just got the Contour Showcase and the LIliPod to compare the oPod against. Keep in mind, the case is "water-resistant" not water proof. I wouldn't trust it underwater with your iPod. The LiliPod is built for underwater.

I too just recieved the opod, and I love it exept for one small thing. the only headphones i can find that work with it are the damn apple earbuds. I have (through much trouble) gotten my sony's to work, buth the cable is pressed up against the jack and the case, so I'm afraid of damage to the cable. if Otterbox can find a way to fix this problem I would be happy.

I received my O-Pod about two weeks ago, I'm using a 20 gig i-pod which is about 3 months old. After recieving it i noticed that it shipped with two foam spacers instead of one which is listed in their instuctions for a 20 gig, when using the one spacer the right >> and the left << keys on the o-pod were inop its too far away from the plastic ,with 2 foam spacers inserted all key functions work but if you hold it to the light and look at rubber seams there is a gap in it, you can see the silver on the i-pod in. The case is definitely not water or dirt proof. This was returned to them and i must say that customer sevice is very very good.
The replacement took about a week to recieve, unfortunately this one was doing the exact same thing, it also leaks very badly empty with just the headphones in and the correct rubber adpater inserterted (alot more than just a couple of drops of water, it will fill up to the bottom of the clear plastic with water if held under a facet{NOT SUBMERGED} for five seconds) and the case locked. I called their support and they informed me that they are aware of the gap problem with some of the 20gig with the foam spacers and are working on it and are refunding my money.
I'm not posting this to downgrade Otter Products i think they are a quaility company and can't say how the O-Pod works on differnet sizes. Perhaps I got two defective O-Pods but if you have a 20 gig please be CAREFULL before you expose to the elements.
