Are they better than the Etymotic research ER-6s? I'm thinking of getting a pair of those for $80. I'm assuming by price that they're not as good.

OOOO really? could you please tell me where you found them for $80?
Lots of the people on head-fi and other forums will swear by Etymotic, and hiss if you even mention Shure :D Actually, the average price for ER-6's from my research has been about $120 and no less.

Does ecost have good service or a good reputation?

what's the difference and where can I get them? How will I know the difference? I'm gonna back-order mine from Ecost, and they are expecting their shipment Wed 26th. You think that shipment will have them?

I did a bit of searching on eCost, as I was thinking of buying some E3c's from them. I was a bit suspicious of their prices as they seem too good to be true. They do have a good rating on CNET and Bizratre, but check this out:

I always tend to believe negative over positive reviews, so I am a bit leery of them. I have not ordered from them myself, so I cannot say anything personally, but I just figured I would share my research.

EEEK! funny how I chose to order BEFORE I checked my e-mail....Well, I just ordered my E2cs from them. The E3cs looked really, REALLY tempting for $130, but I can't justify paying that much for headphones, especially when the Apple ones sound fine to me (I had Sony Streetstyles before. Not the newer lightweight ones, the OLD ones, from like 1999). Really all is that they hurt my ears after a little while, and tend to fall out after a long period of wearing them. But, E2cs for $66.66 shipped is a great price! I talked to a lady on the phone about when they would be in stock, and she was really nice. Heh, we actually had a conversation about Minis:eek: :D

I've had good experiences with ecost, though I can't believe they're selling for $66 - I haven't checked. I ordered mine from Paul Allen at Swee####er.com and he's cool as hell. He cut a deal too so that's always nice...
