Hey Everyone,

Im on the verge of buying a 20GB Ipod to use with my Windows 2000 PC.
I have a couple of questions regarding USB 2 and Firewire cards.

Basicailly, I dont have either a USB 2 or Firewire card, do i have to buy one of these for the Ipod to dock with my pc and transfer files?

Also, If i do have to get one card which works better with the pc? Any one had any experiences of problems with certain cards or anything?

Cheers!

Have to?.... No. But transferring songs over a USB 1.0 connection will be extremely slow, and probably more trouble than it's worth considering how cheap USB or FireWire cards are.

As for whether to go with USB 2 or Firewire, I'd recommend the Firewire. It will save you the cost of having to buy a USB cable, and it is fast as blazes!

Cheers for the advice.

Any recommendations as to which firewire card i should get? I heard that some people have had some problems with certain ones.

Also, the Ipod comes with the firewire cable as standard right?

I'd recommend the Adaptec 4300. It's used by many people here (including myself) and works great. And, yes, the iPod comes with a firewire cable in the box.
