I've begun the process of setting up my new 15GB iPod and transferring songs, etc. I've noticed two things:

1. Although the iPod is working (I transferred a song), iTunes does not open automatically when I connect the iPod to the PC. Should it? I enabled the feature that I thought was supposed to do that.

2. Is it normal for there to be a bit of a lag while the PC recognizes the iPod? Seems like the last time it took 30 seconds or so. Thanks.

1. If you enabled this feature in iTunes. It should open automatically upon connecting your iPod (mine does - Windows 2000).

2. There is a lag while the computer is reading the hard drive in your iPod. I would assume the more data (songs) in your iPod, the longer it will take to recognize.

I did enable the feature in iTunes - that's what's strange.

My experience is, when I hook my iPod up to my computer (I'm using Win XP Home) it takes a while before the iTunes will open and iPod is mounted. I have never timed it but it does take what seems like a long time.

The next time you hook the iPod up try run ning a test and see if iTunes is just slow to open when you mount the ipod. Hook the iPod up and just sit there and wait it out and see. I noticed when I did this for myself it just took a long time for iTunes to open and the iPod to mount after it did.

I find the mounting to be slow but the transfer to be very fast.
