How to Back Up The iTunes File

I've just completed transferring most of my CDs to my laptop's hard drive. It's taken quite a while and I don't want to have to do this again, esp. if my hard drive ever crashes.

What are some recommended ways to backup the file, esp. when it's a few GB?
