hello!

is there a way to change to playlist order of the "on the go" playlist?
thi know how to add tracks to the "on the go" playlist but once you have added a track you can't change the playing order.
...of course without using the pc.

cheers

Only way I know of is drag & drop the files in EphPod er AnaPod. I don't use iTunes. You can d & d files anywhere ya want, any order ya want. Anytime I load a # of files from the same group/artist, an' don't want 'em to play consecutively, I just drag 'em to another spot in the play order an' drop 'em. Scatter 'em around. Clear as mud, right?

hi W9FIF,

i am using anapod myself, and i know how to change order of playlist there.
but what i meant was:
let's suppose that you have no connection to a mac or a pc, and you are lying in the sun near the lake ;-)
and the "on the go" playlist is emty!
you select browse--->Songs--->select a song by holding the center button. the song will start blinking a few times and then it is added to the "on the go playlist"
now you are adding let's say four tracks called A, B, C, D.
which you can see in this order in the "on the go" playlist.
after that you want them to be played in the following order:
C, D, A, B.
is there a way to handle this?

probably another software?
(i am thinking of my palm, on which i was able to upload different utilities that were much better than the standard ones.
BUT i guess that it is not possible to upload different software on the ipod, am i right?)

so how can i manage this?

cheers

@ginalee

thanx for your answer in the general ipod section.
now i have to answer you here, as you have already closed my thread in the other section.

you said that there is no way to achief what i want.
in my opinion this is not a minor bug, this is a very BIG missing!

if i would have knew that there is no way to rearange playlists without a computer i would have thought twice before buying the ipod!

to me it is a big disaster that this function is missing.

is there any chance that this is included in further sw updates?

cheers

Chill, sorry to hear you're disappointed. The ability of the ipod to manage playlists with the computer is one of its biggest selling points for some, and a well-known fact.

I don't use this feature much, and when I do, I choose the tunes in the order I want to hear 'em.

ginalee,
[quote: The ability of the ipod to manage playlists with the computer is one of its biggest selling points for some, and a well-known fact. /quote]
...and i am loving this abilitiy too, and knew of it before i bought it.
BUT what i did not know before, is that there is really no kind of way to rearange a playlist when not being connected to a computer.
again:
this is a very BIG missing imo.

i have heard of some ipod hacks, probably it is possible to solve it that way?
(e.g. hacks like i am using on my palm, or is there no way to install any third party sw on the ipod?)

cheers

No, I've never heard of any iPod "hacks" that would provide this functionality, and there really isn't any way to add 3rd-party applications onto the iPod and have them work/interface directly with the iPod. I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait and see if Apple adds this functionality in a future firmware update.
