View Full Version : Smart playlists when library bigger than pod

Hi,

I have about 41Gb of music, and this is about 3Gb more than I can realistically get onto my 40Gb iPod. To get around this I've created a smart playlist which has a maximum limit so that it only has enough songs to fit on the 'pod.

Is there anyway I can then create other smart playlists and transfer them to my iPod in some form of auto-sync mode? For instance, besides this playlist I'd like playlists of my favourite bands, most highly rated, or perhaps most recently added to my library. The songs in these playlist are almost certainly in the main playlist, so it's not a matter of space, but I think iTunes counts them twice and says there won't be enough space.

Any suggestions?

Cheers :)

Yes, you can do this. iTunes will not count them twice. Also, to avoid it counting/ trying to add songs not on the Pod: set your 1st condition for every smartlist to be the playlist you use as your ipod master list.

look in the iPod mini section. there's a thread with hints on setting up smart playlist for the mini, when you have more music than the iPod will hold. I think it will give you some ideas.
