Hey all, I have a quick question about plugging a Windows iPod in to a Mac(I did a search, and didn't come up with anything). I have a 5GB original Mac iPod that I converted to a Windows iPod through the updater trick, and everything is working well. However, I want to make use of its Firewire disk capabilities, and haul some files from a PC to a Mac(Running OS X). Obviously, the Mac should be able to read it(being FAT32 and all), but I'm a bit worried about what the machine will try to do when it detects an iPod. If I plug it in to the Mac, will it do anything wierd(try to sync with iTunes, delete songs, etc) that I should know about? Thanks.

I tried to do this to give all my songs to a friend of mine who owned a mac running OSX.
He had installed Xpod to retrieve the files as you can't do iPod->Mac with iTunes, and it was meant to be fine.
Unfortunately I don't know what happened but every single one of my songs got erased. I had to use ontrack datarecovery to recover my files, and it was a pain.
So yes you can do this, but be extra-careful, especially about itunes, which I suspect is responsible for this mess, though autosync was not on. Turn off everything that you can in it, be careful, and it should work.....;)

Cheers
