New Dock Connector

I'm 99% sure that I'm going to purchase the Altec inMotion speakers, but I do have one reservation. What are the chances that Apple changes the dock connector on the 4G iPods? I'll probably buy one at some point after their release, but I'd like to know if my accessories will be obsolete. Then again, any info will probably just be speculation.

Well, it isn't just the dock-connector port on the iPod that you need to think about, but also consider that the 4th-generation iPods may have a different "footprint" thus making them incompatible with the current iPod dock, and other accessories that are designed to fit the iPod snuggly.

The iPod mini does give me some hope. It uses the same dock connector, and Altec has developed a mini adapter for the inMotion. Perhaps they'll do the same for future form factors. We shall see.

Depends on the size of the 4G iPod. If it's smaller than the current iPod, then an adapter will work. If the 4G iPod is larger than the current iPod, then we may be out of luck.
