View Full Version : installing a "line-in" jack in my car

I was wondering if anyone has tried this:

I can't use an fm adapter because of frequency bleed-over in my area. I don't want to use a cassette adapter because I want the highest quality possible.

My buddy had an earphone jack installed in his car and hooked it up to an "aux" line in on his car stereo. My problem is that my car stereo has no available line-in or aux option available.

I was thinking of having a stand alone amp or pre-amp installed with a connected earphone jack and then share my car's speaker system with an A/B switch.

Has anyone heard of doing this or tried doing this? Does anyone have any other ideas for me to try to have a direct connection to my car stereo?

Thx in advance for any help or feedback,
gor-dough

Depending on what kind of stereo you have, you can use your cd-changer port as an auxilliary input...that's what I did for mine...check out www.rcainput.com, or www.crutchfield.com
