Well, I longer have my pride and joy. Last Tuesday our house burnt down, and along with losing a dog, all our possesions, and heirlooms, I lost My ModPod, with over 6000 songs. I feel naked. I dug through where my bedroom was and found what was left of it. The only thing that was left was the metal casing on the back of the ipod. I polished it back to it's original splendor and have it sitting on my bookshelf in the guest house. Oh well, this way I can get a new 30gb for the same price as my old 20. As soon as I get my digital camera replaced, I'll post a picture of the casing.

Dude - what a first post!
Sorry to hear about ALL you losses!
I hope you can replace all the material things!

PS - hope you stay in the forums - this can be your new home for now!

That's not fun...
Getting a new one should make you feel better.

Glad your family survived, albeit with losses to posessions and a beloved pet. Hopefully insurance can replace all the items you and your family depend on -- iPod, home appliances, bedding & clothing, etc. I can't imagine losing everything like that... reminds me of when I was 4 or 5 years old and my neighborhood was evacuated because a forest fire was threatening to wipe it out. It didn't, but I remember panicking and (even at that age) realizing I might never see my room and stuff again.

Life goes on though, and I'm sure you've got a good family and friends to help you through the transition. And a new iPod sure should help drown out some of the frustration and loss.

My deepest sympathies, Pocketmind, especially for the loss of your dog. My wife and I just lost a 14 year-old Dalmatian (to old age, not accident), so I can certainly sympathize in that regard.

Everything else can be replaced, despite how hard it may seem right now. Thankfully, you and your family escaped without injury.

Hang in there - I predict a new iPod is somewhere in your future.

My condolences. :( I have never had an experience with fire, but I do know a little about major disaster from a huge flood that happened in my town in 1997. Best wishes, and sympathy for your losses.

That's cruel...but you clearly were more attached to the iPod than your dog! You did say it was your pride and joy!

Still, as you say, you'll get a 30gb one out of it all in the end.

Did you lose all your 6000 tunes that you put on the iPod too? Now that would cap it all off...

I was going to mention that too, but I didn't have the heart to bring it up. :o

Ugh I know how you feel. In April in our other house the was a fire. Thank god he got out ok but we did lose our two parrots that were in the family longer then I was. And we do have a $20,000 bill, there goes my college money lol.
