So you let your battery drain completely before you charge it? Bad move, buster...

Since the iPod has a Lithium-Ion battery, it doesn't have a memory effect. Therefore, you don't need to let it drain completely for it to preserve its battery.
On the contrary, it is actually EXTREMELY unwise to let your iPod battery become completely depleted, for the safety of the iPod as well as battery life reasons. Check out the help section labeled iPod Battery for more information.

Hope your iPod recovers...

Don't take this the wrong way ok? :)

SquashBoy, you really have no idea what you are talking about. The battery charging regime you recommend is good for batteries used about 5-10 years ago. NiCad batteries need to be fully discharged before charging to avoid "memory effect."

The iPod uses a Lithium Ion battery that HATES being fully discharged. In fact full discharges can damage the battery. LiIon batteries work best when kept as full as possible all the time. This will prolong the life of your battery.

I really hope no one has taken your advice.

NiCd - Discharge fully before charging for best performance
LiOn - NEVER discharge fully, try to "top it off" as often as possible for best performance.

I?ve bought the 40gb Ipod and noticed the battery doesn?t last much... Is this normal because the battery is new? Does the ipod consume more battery when it?s transfering musics from itunes?
