Car CD Player

2 questions,

1. Just plugged iPod into new Car CD Player (which has Aux in on front) and if i plug in lead (3.5 to 3.5) all the way sound only comes out of 1 speaker, if i pull lead out slightly, i get both speakers!

2. Do in car chargers, charge faster than the ipod uses power (i.e. will i never lose power if i leaved on charge in car)

Yes iPod charges faster than it runs down the battery, so just leave it on charge during the journey and all will be well.
As for your first problem. What cable are you using to link the iPod with your head unit? It could be that the two sockets are wired up slightly differently and you need an adapter to compensate. Try Maplin.
