I'm searching for a way to hook up an iPod to a 2003 Honda Odyssey minivan. I can't seem to find any info on the Honda HU as to weather it has an AUX input anywhere or not. It has no tape-deck, so the cassette adapter is out of the question. I don't want to use the iTrip due to quality-loss. Does anyone have any info on what I may need to wire this thing directly to the HU? I'd really appreciate any help!:)

I assume you don't have the DVD player - since that includes an aux input that's located in a pocket back in the third row of seats (on the driver's side).

No dvd player, that is correct. It does have dvd-based GPS though; would that have an AUX input on it somewhere?

I think your odyssey has an Aux input in the back of the HU. Check to see if there is control button on your radio for "CD/Changer." If there is a button, that means your radio can control an external CD player/changer through aux input.

According to P.I.E., their aux adapter will work with all models, except those they listed specifically. They didn't call out the Odyssey is being incompatible. But you might want to contact them just to make sure.

Not sure. My wife's has the DVD player which includes a headunit which has allows you to select different inputs for the front speakers (parents) and the rear headphones (kids watching DVD or listening to their own CD, etc). The DVD input button also is marked AUX and toggles between the two when it detects a source on the AUX input.

Unfortunately, you can't select the AUX input for the front and the DVD for the rear. :( Otherwise I could run a long RCA cable from the AUX input to my iPod up front and listen to that over the speakers while my daughter watches a DVD with headphones.

Oh well. The tape adapter is not that bad.

you might try taking it to a car audio shop and seeing what they would charge to install a kit for you
dont go to any of the big stores (unless you're looking for a recomendation to one of the smaller ones)

I found a shop by me (san jose) that would do it in my Kia mini van for 150

For Hondas, you can check out www.handaaccessories.com

They sell Honda OEM accessories, but more importantly, they have pdf files of all installation instructions. There are installation instructions for a CD changers on Odysseys, so you can use that as a guide for installing a line in.

What do I need to be able to connect my iPod to these aux inputs (desinged for games, i think)? Have you done it? I was wondering about them but wasn't quite sure if it would work.... Is there just a stock cable I can buy, and does it connect to the docking connector of the iPod?

Also, I saw your later post about the inability to play the iPod and the DVD when connectted in this manner. Can you get it so that all 6 speakers can hear the iPod this way? (I have older children who (fortunately) have good taste in music and thus I let them play DJ anyway....)

Thanks.
