Belkin car kit mod for slide-in/out use?

For those who have not seen my mini-on-the-cellphone-mount install:

Is it conceivable to remove or disable the clips that snap into the ipod, then size up and hot-glue or otherwise meld the cable into the pod holder itself? My goal is to make a "dock" with the purchas of no more parts.

Hmm ... no response. Well I'm going to try a tight wire wrap and snap it around, then fix THAT firmly to my cell phone holder. I'll report results.
