Bought a pair of these speakers from best buy figuring if I didn't like them I could return them within 30 days. I wanted something to leave on my nightstand to listen to the ipod. Well may I just say,I was literally blown away by the sound of these!! They are so crystal clear and the bass is unbelievable coming from a source as small as the ipod. The speakers have a hookup on the side of the right speaker just for mp3, as well as normal hookup for a computer etc, and with using the line out on the dock to the mp3 in..I am in love with these speakers. They are not very portable due to their larger sub and satellite's..although this summer I plan to take them to the cabin up north and on my front porch on occasion (live way out in the country) while swimming etc. I have owned alot of different models for my ipod and computer including altec lansing, Yamaha and even those little ones that fold up just for the ipod.. and while all were decent..they don't hold a candle to Klipsch 2.1. I am far from an expert on audio..but I would sure recommend these babies.

Just an added opinion.. Some say these speakers show the flaws in mp3. I rip most of my cd's at 256 and the rest at 192, I find the sound crystal and unflawed. Don't know the quality at 128 or slightly higher.

Hmmmm.

I have listened to the Klipsh's before, but they don't even come close to a dedicated 2.1 system with bookshelf speakers.

Adam..I have no doubt about that statement..but what kind of $ are we talking there? My point is that for $130 bucks..I am so thrilled with the sound, and as stated..I'm no expert.

Sorry, in the above post I meant to say 2-channel system, not 2.1.

Yeah, true, it does cost more, but the sound is in a leauge of its own, and after hearing good speakers once I just can't skimp on it anymore.

My system cost about AU$700.

I bet it is in a leauge of it's own. Maybe someday I will do that..but at this point I don't do much listening at home other than with headphones. I drive 60 miles a day to work and do most of my listening in my car. Got a great system in there..makes the ride alot more bearable. My headphones are ety-er4p's and grado sr80's..love both of those! Want to upgrade to better grado's soon.

Hi,
I am considering buying the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 myself. Does somebody know the difference between them and Klipsch Promedia GMX A-2.1?
Or are there any other recommendation for good quality speakers in that price range (below $200)?

Thanks

Hello, I believe the only difference is in the design and appearance. The Klipcsh 2.1 regulars have fairly traditional looking satellites and the gmx look real "space age". I believe the specs are the same (someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), just the gmx looks very "funky" for my taste. As I stated above..for a pair of computer type speakers with a sub in the $150 range.. I think they are unbeatable. I have a 2000 square foot house..and they rock the whole downstairs and can be heard well from upstairs. I think the bass is unbelievable coming from such a small source! Circuit City sells the gmx version with free shipping and Best Buy sells the 2.1 with free shipping, I got them at BB and for $19 I got a 3 year replacement warannty.Good luck..

Klipsch has factory refurb 2.1 Promedias for $99 on their site. Might be a good way to go. Maybe I need a set for my refurbished iPod... :)

If the shipping is liveable..I would jump on that deal. How much for shipping? Brand new from Best Buy with free shipping for $149..so if shipping is $20 or less..I would get them!

$19.30 to ship to Madison, WI. Hmmmm, maybe I'll do it...

Any idea how I could hook up some kind of FM receiver to this setup? (I also posted this as a separate question). I'd like to be able to listen to NPR in addition to the iPod!

I believe the Klisp GMX's use different drivers than the Promedias, which many find to not sound quite _as_ good as the Promedias.

However, they do have better support for auxilary input (RCA In AND Stereo Miniplug) and are slightly more portable.

Just to put my 2 cents in. I have owned a set of the Klipsch 5.1 THX surround speakers. And for there size I havent seen anything better. I have also owned Altec Lansing, JBL and some other big brands. These babys ROCK!!!
