I need an iPod, any generation, damaged (or not). I want to create some experimental software and don't want to use my own baby. I can use a damaged one because I have a few spare parts lying around, or might send it out to a friend to have it repaired. Any software I create will be under the GPL license, meaning the source code can be distributed freely (so it can benefit the entire ipod community).

Requirements:
The iPod must be fixable or working.

The iPod must have ALL of the parts (i.e. no snapped off buttons, must have hard drive, must have battery, etc)

It would be appreciated if the iPod were windows formatted but this is optional

I unfortunately cannot pay for shipping.

I am looking to create programs for the native iPod OS, by reverse engineering the OS to see how it works and such and then write scripts based on that. In the end I hope to achieve the ability to play a greater variety of formats, enable FLAC (I know there was a huge discussion on this), and hopefully get around to a text processor to jot quick notes. PM if interested.

EDIT

Maybe you can try to deduct this from taxes by estimating the value of the pod and calling it a donation to charity ;)

I hate to tell you this but broken iPods fetch ~$100 on ebay. I have been looking to buy a few broken ones to make a few good ones and can't believe what people pay for broken iPods. I finally gave up since each time I found one it ended up selling for more than I thought it was worth.

Good luck though. I hope there is a good sould out there willing to help you out.
