I've been reading the forums for about a week now. I'm not interested at this time in the FM Transmitter. I called Crutchfield and Monster Cable directly for customer service. I have a Sony MP80 headunit. The guy at Crutchfield told me I needed the Monster iCharger and the Monster iCable. He seemed pretty knowledged and took the time to answer my questions. I got a lady in customer service at Monster Cable who told me first that it would work and then that it wouldn't. She didn't seem to know much. First she told me it would work, I started asking her some questions, then she said "Now tell me again what items you are talking about". Then she put me on hold and said it wouldn't work with any Sony headunits and that was pretty much it.
Any help?

I forgot to mention, I have a 3G 40g model, if it matters.
Thanks.

Okay, done some more searching and it seems with the auxillary input on the Sony will only recognize a cd changer? Is there no way to fool it?
Any help?
An FM Transmitter should work with ANY headunit. It does not use an AUX IN. You simply plug it into your iPod, select a frequency, then set your radio to that same frequency. It will "take over" the frequency and play through your stereo.
Using AUX IN will yield much higher sound quality, however.

Yeah, I would not recommend an FM Transmitor. My experiences with the Belkin transmitor and the iTrip have not been good. An FM modulator might work better, but I don't know. Maybe someone else does?
FM Modulator will definitely be better, but still not as good as an AUX IN solution. I'm dying to get mine hard-wired...

Still trying to figure everything out.
Would I need to add this aux input adapter or one similiar for a Sony?

They don't seem to have adapters for Sony, does this mean I don't need one or that I can't hook all this up the way I want to?
Sorry for so many questions. Just trying to build and install my system and I just want to take things apart one time.
That adapter is specific to Kenwood HU's. I just re-read some of your earlier posts. Can you post a link to the page where you found out the AUX input on your HU is only for changers?
