I just got a 30gb to use w/ my Mac (OSX). Whenever I dock the iPod to update files, it does some sort of diagnostic check (magnifying glass on disk icon) that takes almost an hour. Is this going to happen everytime I plug it in?

If I interrupt the diagnostic session, it starts all over again. I can't get it out of THE DIAGNOSTIC. Sorry for the outburst.

After an hour on the phone with Apple, they concluded I need to return it. They are eager to tear it apart to see what the problem is.
