If I go to My computer, it DOES show Ipod as drive G as it always did, but nothing comes up anymore to transfer music, and Ipod manger does not detect an Ipod, why is this? It has worked since I reinstalled XP, so I'm guessing that is the culprit, so what do I need to do now, could I be missing some drivers? If so, what ones?
Thanks ALOT, been fighting this thing forever, please help!

I had the same problem and tried everything (see the link below).

I finally solved my problem by installing updater 2.1 on a friend's comp (using XP and their usb 2.0 port). When I had updated the pod to 2.1, my computer finally recognised it again.... if this works, let us know.

Where exactly am I to be finding this 2.1 update... If you mean when you go to start, ipod, and updater, then I have an error there too, it says 'service error'. Thanks for the reply.

yeah, you need to install updater on somebody else's computer, not yours...I had the same service error and I have a feeling it has something to do with corrupt software on the iPod
Go to a friend's place, install updater 2.1 from the apple website and try to update your iPod with the latest firmware...worked for me!
