Problem w/ transferring music

My ipod recently started dying while trying to transfer music from ephpod. Where it would normally transfer files quickly (@ 3000 files in an hour), now it is taking 30min to transfer 130 files. (both transfers using firewire).

Along with that problem, I have a humming sound coming from my ipod that wasn't there before.

On the flipside of the coin, playing music on the ipod performs as intended w/ good battery life.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is something else running at the same time you are doing the transfers? If so, perhaps it is taking a lot of the CPU time and thus slowing down the transfer.

I am sure you have tried this but why don't you reboot the computer and try it again. I have to reboot mine all the time becaue I do so much on it and it can't handle all the programs that are running. Particularly, those that never really shut down.
