I don't understand!

I love the iPod but the problem that I'm running into is, it keeps restarting... if I don't use it for a day or so, the screen is blank and when I go to play it, the apple logo comes up like it restarted and then there is some black line in the middle of the screen when the menu pops up... it does go away after awhile but its buggin the hell out of me... I"ve heard that this happens to a bunch of people but only like one time, for me its all the time... I'm about to take it back and get a Nomad (the player I gave up for the ipod).

Help please!!!

Sounds like normal iPod behavior to me. IIRC, the iPod actually goes into a "deep sleep" state after sitting unused for 24 hours or so. It does this to help conserve battery power while not in use. When you "wake" your iPod from deep sleep it automatically goes through the boot-up process where you'll see the Apple logo. This is all normal.

I've never experienced the "black line in the middle of the screen when the menu pops up". Does it go away after a moment, or is it always there? If it goes away, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

thanks for the quick reply... but I feel so much better if you can show me a link to where it would say that it goes to a deep sleep and restarts like that... about the black line... yes it goes away after a little while

No link needed my man. This is just what the IPOD does. Mine does it everytime.

If you really want some sort of conformation, I suppose you could search the forums as I'm sure there are many mentions of this. I can second for Doublewide though, deep sleep is certainly normal.
