I recently got an iPod and since its so nice, my sister wants one too. The problem I have with that is this, I don't listen to the same music she does, and I dont want her to be messing with my iTunes. Also, I dont want to mess with hers either. So I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from if you put yourself in my shoes. My question is... is it possible to put 2 iPods on one computer without manual syncing? I don't want to manual sync because that would be a hassle. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

It would be helpful to know what kind of computer you're using (Mac or PC), and what operating system it's running.

AndyH not to be rude, but I did post this in the Windows general section... But its a HP Pavilion f1503 running XP. Do you think there could be a loophole by one of us buying Anapod?

I am also about to buy my wife an iPod. We will initially use the same machine, and probably use the same set of music. So, I'm going to use manual synch to get my library to her machine, which I think I can do, right? Then at some time in the future, I'll setup her system so she can start managing her own iPod.

Any other suggestions on getting my library onto her iPod? I saw an entry in the FAQ that indicated I could do the manual synch...

Best bet is to do manual sync. you can even have both iPods show up at the same time when connected to the pc. I don't know about Anapod as I don't see how paying for that would be out iTunes and the free apps here work really good (iPodAgent) at pulling songs off me iPod. If you don't wanna mess with your sis's music library and her mess with yours then two usernames is the best bet to do. And autosync would not really be an option with two iPods on same pc.

I've been using an Ipod for 6 months, my girlfriend bought one a couple of weeks ago. We have separate accounts on windows XP on the same PC. We have both ripped CDs to our accounts and synchronise our itunes libraries from time to time so we each have essentially the same library, but we are each starting to uncheck the other's music that we don't like, and have own playlists, ratings etc..

We are now using autosync on our ipods and this seems to work fine. We just have to remember to put the right ipod into the right account. I assume the worse we could do would be to load up one of our ipods with the other's music, but this would be easily retrievable given firewire is so fast. And we have given our ipods different names so this may help prevent this error ? - not yet tested this!

All you need to do is log on as different users

The iTunes folder is under the users profile (ie in My Documents) so the iTunes program itself will look to a different folder and database depending on who is logged on.

Hope you have a big harddrive :)
