rss feed help

i use ipod agent to sync my contacts and other media and info...the other day i was trying to sync an rss news feed site....ipod agent gives the rss url for about 15 different yahoo but when i try and type my own rss url it doesnt work. but i was wondering what i need to do so i can get other sites as rss news sites so i can sync the text to the pod...does it have to be a cpecial site, or formatted specially or could i get ipodlounge.com..any info on rss feeds would be great
