Help!!!!
I can't quit getting dups on my ipod. I currently have four Pearl Jam files. It's not duplicate in MusicMatch.
I know that Ipod recognizes spaces. I think the duplicates are happenening in the artist tab. But when I look at it I can't see any difference. What's the deal.

i know you said that you realize the iPod recognizes spaces, however, most duplication problems are caused by extra spaces being added to tags at the end of the field(s).

Edit the tags of the problem file(s) and press the END key on your keyboard. See if you have extra spaces. If you do, delete them, then delete the problem song on your iPod and resync.

So I go to the end of the artist name and hit End and erase the spaces gotcha. I'm at work so I'll have to wait till I get home. Now, do I have to erase the song ?? I'm not sure I follow you on this. Thanks for your help by the way.

Well, I had the same problem for a while, but then I used super-tagging to fix it. it worked great.

But now, I switched to EphPod because it stopped the problem entirely. I found that with EphPod I kept getting errors so I tried to switch back to MMJB. I deleted the iPod_Control folder on my iPod, used EphPod to recreate the directories, closed EphPod, and then transferred my music again with MMJB. Now, though, it lists EVERY SONG twice. The first one listed doesn't work. What do I do? I emailed tech support at MM, but they won't reply. Does anyone know what's wrong?

You probably have a corrupted itunes database. Do a full restore on your iPod using the Updater/Restore program. Then try MMJB.

Do you mean the iPod update/restore in EphPod, or on the iPod Manager that's in the system tray?

EDIT: I can't get the Updater program to run. When I click "Launch 2.0 Updater," nothing happens. Do I have to have the iPod CD-ROM in? Is there any other way to run this program?

I need help too! I just bought a 15 GB iPod and I'm also getting duplication problems. The weird thing is I used to own a 20 GB iPod (until today) and I never had this problem, so I don't think it's a tagging problem. Any suggestions? Cheers.

It looks to me like the Itunesdb does not allow database entries to be deleted if there is no corresponding mp3 to delete. I pulled a stupid stunt trying to substitute a new rip of a cd for an old one. I used MM to access the Ipod music library directly, so that I could easily delete the 30 songs on this two disk album. After I deleted the files, the entries stay in the Itunesdb forever, and cannot be removed.

What the MM link needs is a command to rebuild the itunesdb file from the mp3 files on the Ipod. If any of the other programs can do this, I think it would fix the duplication problem.

I had a ton of duplicates as well. I went through and supertagged the problem files and the duplication problems have been fixed. It took me a while but I only retagged the files that had duplication issues.

There is something wrong with the new firmware and MM. I had a 20 g and this problem did not occur.
