is it nice? does it scratch the screen when i take the ipod out? can i use the buttons while its in the case?

I assume you're talking about the Apple case that comes with the 20-40GB 'pods.
I like it. Some say it will scratch the screen/back but I haven't noticed any scratches in ~2 months of use. It's a slider/holster style case and you cannot use the buttons while it's in the case. On the upside, I've never had to use the hold switch either.
