I stumbled across this website thanks to a friend: (http://www.chris.com/nutty/index2.html) which discusses the strategic placement of f@rt sounds into songs. I find that I do a lot of it and was amazed to discover I'm not the only one.
Partially, it's due to my upbringing. When I was a child, my father would insert a f@rt sound at the end of all songs. That's how you knew a song was over and the next one would be beginning soon. (I also know more Irish drinking songs and dirty songs than any child should ever know. My father thought they were suitable lullabyes, much to my mother's dismay.)
In addition, I taught basic music theory to my daughter with the f@rt sound. She struggled with the concept of rests in a piece of music when she was first learning the piano. She skipped over the rest without giving it full value. I taught her to insert the f@rt sound once for a quarter rest, twice for a half rest, etc. She included this noise in her first recital, much to the dismay of her piano teacher. (Now you all know why I do not use the music degree I obtained in college.)
Does anyone else include odd sound effects in their music or is this just an isolated weirdness?
