Hi - I have just bought the InMotion speaker s/up by Altec Lansing in addition to the Navipod remote control - however here is the problem: with my iPod sitting in the docking part of the speaker system, the remote control will forward through the songs but will not adjust the volume - the remote is however able to turn the volume up and down on the iPod but the fact that it is sitting in the speaker unit seems to make it not work - does anybody have any idea as to why this is happening - thanks in advance.

The reason that the volume is not affecting the speakers is because you probably have the iPod plugged into the Line Out of the iPod's Dock rather than the actual earphone socket. The Line Out volume cannot be controlled by the remote.
Just a guess..
To use the volume controls on the Navipod, use the patch cord that came with my inMotion speakers. Cover the dock connector (the cover came with the speakers), and plug the patch cord in the back of the speakers. Plug the other end of the cord in the line jack of the Navipod attached the to iPod. You should now have full control through the Navipod.
The only bad part is the iPod will not charge sitting on the speakers

Sitting in the dock allows it to access the line out capabilities of the iPod and bypass the enternal iPod volume. This is how it is supposed to be, though means you can't remotely control the volume. You got a good suggestion on how to work around it.
I like using the iNmotions to charge and play the iPod continuously. I can deal without being able to remote control it. InMotion could rake in some more money, though, could they come out with a remove to connect to the iPod while in the inMotion to control volume and the all.
