Well I just got a new 3rd Gen ipod this week. I got an incase folio case with it but will be returning it shortly because it is too big. I've been looking at a lot of cases online and am just wondering how important it is to protect the buttons of the ipod. I just want a case thin enough to compfortably fit in a pocket, while not having to worry about damage when it is stuck in a backpack or dropped. Right now im looking at the Lojo exo 2 case, but want to know if the protection of the buttons is worth impeding the use of them. How damaged can the buttons really get? Thanks.

Well I dont believe the buttons would get damaged or become unusable if they are exposed to regular use. However, if I had a choice, I would prefer the buttons to be covered. I have the exo 1, and have noticed that there are fingerprints imprinted on the buttons and the prescence of oily residue. A blemish to the iPod thats all...

I personally don't see the point of covering the buttons.. mine havent gotten scratched or dirty and they're always uncovered. Unlike the rest of the iPod.. the white lucite, screen and back are all scratched..
The button usage arn't impeded with Lajo's exo2s. Just thought I'd let you know that. It's not as easy to press them as normal, but they still work.

I have to agree here. I just got a Lajo exo2 as part of a test drive and I am finding the buttons much harder to press. I have actually gone back to using my original exo. I would love to have an exo3 with exposed buttons and scroll wheel. Maybe I should try slicing and dicing an exo3, I can afford to risk $9.50 if it worked. Mainoy because my friend bought and exo3 and it is amazingly thin, but the buttons are a pain.
On a side note I think I might get one of those new fancy art cases he has, one is called blue ice and is the shiznit. It is a white and blue mix and the blue part of it glows.

Also you might want to think about before buying the exo2 as compared to the exo is some people complain about how the cover on the wheel is real annoying and makes it harder to scroll

Actually after trying the exo3 and the exo2 the scroll wheel works pretty well but the buttons are a hassle I have even been flipping the skin down at the screen protector to get em working. I har it is a electricity in the fingers things as to why its harder to activate the buttons through the silicone.
