PRESS RELEASE.
For Immediate Release
Toronto, Canada. -Friday, March 26, 2004
ISkin Inc., releases the iSkin eVo iPod protector. Proof of eVolution.
ISkin Inc., today released the iSkin eVo, its new and improved protector for the third generation Apple iPod that the company refers to as ?proof of eVolution?. ISkin Inc, has taken all the good stuff, like form fitting design, rear heat release pores and elegant lines from its immensely popular iSkin eXo2 and combined them with new features and refinements to create the iSkin eVo.
For example, the iSkin eVo now sports a completely redesigned rotary RevoClip that?s made of a lightweight, non-shattering polymer that provides a secure connection between the iPod and its user. It also comes with an improved screen protector that maintains an ultra-clear view of the iPod?s screen. The new eVo now allows devices like the iTrip to connect seamlessly while maintaining solid protection by featuring a new thinned down top surface with beveled edges. Last but not least, iSkin has increased the available color selection to include a series of Ultra-Glo (glow-in-the-dark) skin tones that are so cool, customer?s will want them all.
The company believes that the iSkin eVo is testament to its open ear towards customer feedback, and it?s latest offering shows they?ve been listening.
The iSkin eVo sells for $29.99. It is available online at iSkin.com and will soon be available at Apple Retail Stores and other fine iSkin resellers worldwide. For a list of resellers and distributors and more information, visit www.iSkin.com

ahh thats much better... the iSkin.com product line have expanded and now with more colour variety. I still believe it is a bit expensive compared to Lajo tho - could be just the economics of manufacturing.

I prefer the iSkin exo & evo over the Lajo cases because iSkin has a perfectly formed protective flap on the firewire port and a better impact resistent screen protector than Lajo's TPU screen protector (Lajo exo 3 has no screen protector). One good shot to the iPod's unprotected LCD display and a person could end up with an iPod with no working display. Essentially a very expensive door stop. I'll gladly pay extra for the iSkin case. I consider it insurance.

Now THIS is what should have been the exo2...
If I didn't already have a Contour Showcase, I would go this route.
In fact... those colors look so good...
:D
I mightttt get one... just to see how good they are. I've heard of a lot of satisfied customers.

The only thing I don't like is the lack of protection for the wheel and buttons. In fact, I don't understand why so few cases protect the wheel... mine had fingernail scratches on it in a matter of days.
Other than that it looks great, especially the new belt clip.

Poopies.. I got an eXo2 recently.. now I want the new eVo version :(
But then again.. these kind of cases attract too much dust and lint for my liking.

I agree that it looks nice, and on a second look, its actually a really great design.
Firewire cover, top mount compatibility, and i like the new clip, but the price is still to high.
For instance i know i would never use the belt clip. also for 30$ and no cover on the wheel/buttons is a little bit of a joke....
Otherwise great idea.

Does seem a little pricey for what you get, but that's inline with most companies that support Apple products. I guess if you can afford to purchase an ipod, you can afford to overpay for accessories.

i think not a lot of companies cover the buttons because more people care about the screen than the buttons first off, second it costs more and is harder to produce button and wheel covers, third not many people switch case choices because of button covers (or lack thereof), fourth scrathes on buttons or wheel don't harm the ipod at all and aren't as visible as on screen, and fifth if you are using the buttons you are probably looking at the screen, and your hand is covering up the scrathes so the scrathed buttons aren't even seen that often.
edit: and if your gonna improve one thing on the exo, why the hell don't you make it dockable?

Its an EXTREMELY tight fit in the dock on the front of the case... The only thing i could think of is having the entire bottom of the case being detachable.

look at the speck case...they could do something like that right?

i will answer my own question: lajo just released "exoflp", a docking exo exactly like the speck case. looks to me exactly like exo2+$1.50 more and dockability...another thing, does lajo know how to use vowels.. i mean "xskn" "flp" "swv" "fx" etc. a good thing hes online only, because how you gona pronounce all these goofy names? nonetheless they are good cases and the key program is innovative ...

I saw the new flip cases on his site and they look promising but I think I'll wait for someone to post a review. I also want to order an exo3 for my 40gb iPod but some people have reported that the exo3 case is 'baggy' on their device so I'm a little reluctant to order one since they've just been released for the 40gb model.
I have an iSkin case but stopped using the screen protector due to the scuff marks it was leaving on my device. I have contacted iSkin regarding their 'new improved' screen protector and was told they should be available to order separately in about a week. I didn't want to order a new case just to get the improved screen protector.
Anyone who gets one of these new flip cases please post reviews. Thanks.

yea, I just got an exo3 today for my 10GB 3G unit, and it was a bit 'baggy' Didn't fit as nicely as the xskn2 did on my 2G. But since it's made for the 10/15/20GB models, I imagine it would probably fit pretty well on the 15 or the 20. Speaking of which, it's up on Ebay right now for a grand total of $10 shipped anywhere in the US. Search for item 3088450744

Recently purchased a 3g 20gig ipod and couldn't be happier. Was a bit disappointed in the fact that it scratched INCREDIBLY easy. Bought the Brasso stuff but haven't really tried it yet. In an attempt to prevent more scratches, I orderd the ice exo3 as it seemed to be the thinnest case available and I wanted to maintain the general look and feel of the ipod. Received the case yesterday and was really disappointed. I don't know if I would say that it was baggy but there are air pockets all over the ipod. Makes it almost look like gauze is wrapped all around it. It really looks like crap. I also bought the iShade which was a disappointment as well. Maybe I'm not attaching it correctly but there are water mark looking streaks on the screen (looks like they are where the iShade touches the screen). The combination of the two really looks bad. I'm going to return them (if they take returns) and get something else. Based on what I didn't like about the exo3, do you have any suggestions? This evo looks interesting. I assume the case is more sturdy than the evo3 (it would have to be to support a belt clip). This may integrate better with a screen protector and also prevent the air pocket issue all over the machine. The exo3 really is just a flimsy piece of silicone. If it fit tighter on the machine (no air bubles) and integrated better with the screen protector, it would really serve its purpose. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

w00t!
I saw the eVo friday, ordered it, got it today! Obviously, I paid for the 1-2 day shipping, but still, thats fast.
I got the -vamp- model, 40 gb ipod. It's purple, but glows lt blue in the dark - SWEET!
Fits just right, not uncomforatbly tight, but tight. The screen protector, with soft foot pads, fits nicely, and securely! I prefer the protective flap it has on the 3g data port, to worrying about covering the wheel and buttons.
SO, as a new user, just got my first iPod last week, I am totally satisfied. I will tell continue to report after usage.
Thanks to all for their input!

on a scale of 1-10, how much does it glow? can you compare the glow of your 'vamp' to anything else that glows for comparison? i wanna know if it's brighter than my jacko (awesome color-bright orange and orange glow)

only "charged " the photo - illuminescence (sp?) by holding to a light bulb last night. Today will let it get full sunlight and report back. One thing is, with say 5 mins of bulb light, it glowed ...hmmmm...say 5? I havent owned any previous glowing skins so its rather hard to give a comparitive answer. But the vamp ( purple) seems to be the glowing blue that is shown on iSkin's site, and even with just a tad of charging, seemed pretty bright.

I jus got my EVO today im very happy with it. The small complaint i have with it is that the case i self collects alot of small particles, like clothing fabric, hair, maybe some dust. Besides that i really like my ebony iskin evo. the screen protector doesnt scratch the screen which is a good thing. The belt clip seems cheap but its really nice IMO. anyone thinking about getting one i think should get it.

I got mine today. Love it! I put my Vajo away for good. Clip is nice, new screen protector leaves no scratches. Does collect allot of dust and such, but rubbing it down with a dryer sheet does wonders to fix that small complaint. All and all a very nice case, and the bag is a nice extra as well.
just received mine too,
(ordered it monday-evening, received it this morning.)
and i must say i'm very happy with it.
It fits perfectly, has a nice and good screenprotector,
and an extra zip bag...
The only minor thing is the dust collecting habit...
but from what i read, it is the same with all these silicon cases...
greetings from a very happy iSkin customer!

After exsposing it to sunlight, it glows brightly!

I ordered mine Saturday, I hope it can get to me before I take my first road trip with my ipod.
i really want an eVo iSkin now!!!
i want to get the Arctic color.
:D
I'm a newbie who has been bitten hard by the iPod bug -- I've had the 3G 15GB player for less than three weeks and already have three sets of earphones and two cases -- iSkin eVo Carbon and a Lajo iSkin Original Ice. IMHO, the eVo is a better choice -- I prefer the openings for the buttons and wheel to Lajo's skinned variety, and the 'trap door' for the Firewire port is a nice touch on the eVo. I also like the eVo REVOclip, which allows you to wear the iPod horizontally, vertically or at practically any angle (makes it easy to sit with the iPod clipped to your waist); the Lajo swvclip seems stronger, but the iPod constantly swivels and always comes to rest in a vertical position. Also, the iSkin comes with some documentation and the storage case, and has a better Web site; Lajo's site is hard to navigate, and the case is shipped sans documentation of any sort.
My only complaint about the eVo is that the screen protector arrived damaged. I emailed iSkin, they replied promptly and said a replacement was being shipped to me immediately. That was four days ago; I'll be a little disappointed if it doesn't arrive today.

does the 4 corners on the screen protecter scratch the ipod i heard they do but maybe it was on older models or another brand all together. i just got my ipod and am going crazy trying to find a good case. only thing i don't like about the evo is that it doesn't cover wheel and buttons but if the screen protector doesn't scratch that sounds worth it alone.

No, the new iSkin eVo has an improved screen protector that does not scratch.
