I have a generation 2 WiPod, and today the right earbud cracked... :( My remote is gone too, so my question is, for my budget (which is I'm willing to spend enough to buy the replacement earbuds/remote for $40, but not more), am I better off buying the phones from apple or something else? I do want earbuds and I'd rather not spend over $50.

thanks!

welcome to ipodlounge, ectropist! :)

search the ipodlounge database. there are a couple of headphones (Sony MDR-E848LP $30 f.e.) that give you better sound and cost less or only a little more. also check the reviews on the ipodlounge front page.

I had a pair of the earbuds go bad under warranty and I called Apple technical support. Within three days I had a new set of earbuds and I did not even have to return the broken earbuds.

If you are going to get different earbuds the Sony MDR-EX70SL's are the best bang for the buck!

Really depends on your budget. Best bang for the buck would go to the Senn's, at fifteen dollars.

EX's are good, at 40-50 dollars.

Shure E'2s are incredible, at 80 dollars.

Ety4's are (probably) incomparable, at 270 dollars.

Best bang for the buck for cans: Grado SR 60's, at 69 dollars.

Check my post in the Classifieds area, I will sell you my *Sealed* 2G/3G ipod earphones for $10.

I had to return my Ipod for repair, and never opened up the replacement earphones that came with the unit. I also never opened up my wifes pair when I bought her an Ipod, leaving me with 2-sealed pair.

I had 2 remotes under the same type of deal, but just sold them.
