View Full Version : Extreme Mac Sportswrap delayed again
[sets rant switch to on position]
Okay, I pre ordered an Extreme Mac Sportswrap armband case sometime in early February. Initially, it was delayed till March 2nd. Then it was delayed till March 22nd. I got an e mail from them saying it would be delivered during the week of the 22nd for sure. I replied and said if they had a firm date, I would keep my order and wait till then. They said yes. Now, I get an e mail that it will be delayed till April 6th.
UMMMMM, NO. Sorry Extreme Mac, but you will be losing my order (and I am sure that I am not the only one they will loose). They need to get their act together. A month and a half to wait for a product that they have offered up for sale is riddiculous. I know they don't charge until it is shipped but all I am saying is if it is not ready, don't tell people that it will be and have then continually make and break promises. It is just bad business practice.

I don't know all of the specifics, but as far as companies having a crystal ball for the release dates for new products...sometimes $%!# just happens beyond everyday problems. I am not saying that it is ok to just give a definite date and then change it, but sometimes production gets delayed, designs need work, etc that are beyond the control of the business. Most times release dates are tentative at best (as we have learned if we ever waited for a new Apple release). I am not trying to argue, it can be frustrating and dissapointing to have dates moved 3 or 4 times, but try not to be so hard on them. It may have been unavoidable. However you should not have gotten a definite confirmation of the date and that is the fault of the company. That is a big "no no" where I come from.

I'm sticking with them, since this armband case looks really promising. However, I ordered at the beginning of January when the product was first advertised, and I really hope that this is the last time they'll change the ship date.
I am curious as to what the "problems beyond [their] control" may be. I know the first delay was forgetting to take into account the national holiday that is Chinese New Year. Just... frustrating.

Wow, you ordered in January? That is even longer than I have been waiting. Best of luck to you then. As far as I am concerned, they have had too many chances. When I wrote them after the second delay, I told them that I know "stuff happens" sometimes and especially when dealing with Chinese manufactrers. All I asked them was if the March 22nd date was firm. They gave me an emphatic yes. When they moved the date yet a thrid time, that was too much. Three strikes and you are out.
The fact that they don't have them actually does not bother me that much. I just don't like the idea that they say they are selling them or that they are ready to sell when they don't even have a production run. Chinese New Year? They told me that they had major quality control problems in the first batch so they had to switch manufacturers. I mean, can they even get their story straight?
I am sure they are a decent company, but they should not have set expectation without a means to deliver. If it were me, I would not have offered the case for sale or pre order until they had a good batch that passed QA etc. Then I would have let people order them. In all this waiting, I have found a perfectly good substitute for the EM Sports wrap. It is the Teski Roadie. Less money, readily available, and better access to the controls. Also, their arm band does not heat up your arm like Neopryene.
My two cents:mad:

Yes Pumi, I would love it for you to explain in detail the Teski Roadie. A review prehaps? I have been deciding between the EM Sports Wrap and the Teski Roadie for when I work out. The Roadie seems smaller and holds the ipod better but these conclusions are only from reading on their web sites. Do you know if the Roadie is being sold in other places that online? Again if you could give a review that would be great.

Thanks Gearhead for the link.
Anyone has any idea if you can put an exo on the ipod and still use the Teski Roadie? Reading around it seems the exo3 would work but what about the exo2 and orginial exo, which is a 1.3 mm difference from the exo3?
