I too have purchased the OEM armband for the mini. I love it for my cardiovascular workouts. The neoprene material is very comfortable, but sucks up sweat like a sponge. Usually after a workout session at the gym, I have to dry it by placing it between two towels and firmly pressing to get some of the moisture out. I?ve also noticed that some areas on the armband are starting to build up slight salt deposits (from the sweat).

I was wondering what you guys are doing to keep the armband clean and hygienic. Obviously it wouldn?t be wise to toss it in the washer with a load of laundry, but I want to see some of the different ways you guys are cleaning your armbands (i.e. hand-washing with mild soapy water, a quick rinse under the faucet, etc.)

I?ve never owned a wetsuit, so I don?t know if black neoprene fades with frequent washings, but I do know that my black dress socks sure do. So will the armband?s color fade too with wash after wash? Just wondering. Thanks guys.

KINetics,

I've also been using the mini armband from Apple (had to shell out $34 bucks for it...but I like it so far!).

I used to have a racquetball elbow brace that was made of the exact same material. I started washing it by hand, which eventually became a pain. Then, I realized that I could just add it to my clothes wash. There's very little chance of getting lint on it (that would happen if you actually threw it in a clothes dryer), and the rinse cycle pretty much spins any excess water from it. As long as you don't use any heavy bleach, it should be fine.

In my case, my brace always came out nice and clean, and dried very quickly. I'd venture a guess and say that the Apple armband could go through a similar routine every week or two, and still look good as new after a long while.

Good luck!

:D
