So two days ago I finally get my iTrip. While loading the iTrip software I am informed I must have MusicMatch on my PC in order to load the stations on my 20GB iPod.

I go ahead and reload MusicMatch and it friggin erases all my playlists as well as over 1000 songs!!!! I am so ####ed it is not even funny!!! I go ahead and try out the iTrip and it does what it is meant to do and does fairly well...I was pretty impressed. However I was so ####ed that MusicMatch screwed up my music collection that I said WTF!!!

So I decided to go in to COMP USA and see if I can swap my 20GB'er for the new 30GB'er...I walk in to COMP USA and go to the customer support counter. I tell the clerk my iPod's battery is not lasting the 10 hours it is supposed...more like five *cough* blazing lie *cough*. She goes into the backroom and returns with a 30GB and says, "I am sorry but we do not stock the 20GB'ers anymore you are going to have to make do with an upgrade."

It was that friggin simple. Bought another TAP for two years in the process...COMP USA rocks! iTrip is going on ebay. Ordered a Blitzsafe adapter and I will hardwire the iPod as soon as it arrives in the new Audi!

I asked about the extended warranty at the place I got my iPod from (London Drugs). They said that what they do is based on how expensive something is. You purchase an extended warranty for 40 dollars (for 1 year, 70 for 2 years...this is Canadian btw). If the item is 300 dollars or under, it's exchanged immediately. If it's OVER 300 dollars, it's REPAIRED. Um...what? So pretty much, the iPod is obviously in the "repair" field. It doesn't make sense to me. If something were to break on my iPod (it's come close), I would have to take it in, wait god knows how long to get it repaired, and get it back...REFURBISHED. But Joe Shmoe with his under-300 dollar MP3 player that broke gets a brand new one. Horrible, I tell you.

I don't think anybody besides Apple would take on repairs. Apple charges ungodly fees for iPod repair. I bet they'll just replace it. If not, find something else wrong with it. They'll get tired of fixing it pretty quickly.

I had a car CD deck that I bought four years ago that started going bad about six months ago. I had a four year extended warranty (Best Buy) on it. It took two repairs, but when I sent it off for a third, they decided it was time to cut their losses and just replace it. I got a brand new deck, and bought a new warranty for it. Maybe your situation would be the same?
